My Parents can be proud that they brought me up loving to travel. I have it on good authority that this love and need for adventure as I became older was not my Fathers favorite trait within me.
I have one of the most magical memories of the love and zest he also had in his eyes craving adventure. I was in seventh grade and my parents allowed me to bring my best friend on our Florida Vacation. My Dad woke us up early. He wanted us to experience something truly special. We awoke in Jacksonville, Florida on the east coast. We drove for hours beginning at the very top of the state. We whined and made my poor Father regret this adventure each time we muttered “are we there yet”.
After the long car ride and teenage complaining we were rewarded with an experience I still treasure today, My Father took us to one side of the street and waved his hand. “Well kids how many times in your life will you be able to say I was looking at the Atlantic Ocean……….at the same time as the Gulf of Mexico?”
The whining subsided and the awe and wonder of how anyone was going to believe us took over. Questions rattled off. We dipped our toes in the precious clear blue waters and took a memory to treasure forever.
The Florida Keys were the destination of my magical memory, so don’t wait for Father’s Day or the next special occasion to create your treasured memories.

One of my favorites is always going to be the Dolphin Tours and the Glass Bottom Boats. Entertain the music lover in you with a stop at Blue Heaven. They have live music during lunch and dinner. They offer their delicious Key Lime pie in the restaurant as well as the gift shop.
The majority of my childhood memories are of experiences. I myself am guilty of forgetting to focus on the moments and memories rather than the things. Starting today plan your next adventure to treasure a life time.
