The Great Smoky Mountains was a short drive from my childhood home. Making it an excellent location for a day trip, weekend getaway or a traditional vacation.
I grew up loving adventure with a strong sense of curiosity. I begged my parents to allow me to join any camp fire adventures or nature walks in our travels. I craved information as if it were water or air.
My adult life I have not exposed my family to the world of which I loved so much. We recently decided it was time to introduce them to the Smoky Mountains.
My absolute favorite experience from this trip was white water rafting with Big Creek Expeditions. We chose big creek for their variety in adventures. They have age and weight requirements for certain adventures. Safety being number one.
There were nine of us one of which was a preschooler. Our guide was incredible. He shared stories with the kids and made everyone feel safe and comfortable on our journey.
He explained about the various wildlife in and out of the water. We talked about how the seasons change and the effects on the wildlife.
Big Creek is on the Tennessee and North Carolina border. Its the perfect enhancement to a Smoky Mountain vacation.
