I was the most particular child when it came to food growing up. I lacked the appreciation for farm fresh preservative free food. Sunday Dinner at my Grandmothers House was my favorite.
She catered to my particularities. Meatloaf, fried chicken, and chicken and dumplings were the staples she knew she could get me to eat. Throw in some mashed potatoes and if I cleaned my plate I could have dessert. Typically peach cobbler or cherry pie.
During the planning for our smoky Mountain trip everyone said you have to eat at the Old Mill.
I perused the menu and in my adult life I definitely don’t cook the staples my Grandmother did for me. My mouth was watering reading about the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Pot Pie, and one of my favorites Pot Roast. Homemade desserts change daily and you have to inquire while dining.
The old mill is set in a “downtown” style area. There is shopping to keep you occupied while awaiting your table. We visited the candy shop and toy store taking me back to my childhood visiting my Aunt on Saturday mornings at the Dime Store where she worked.
The Old Mill is a great choice for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner to complete or kick off your Smoky Mountain adventure.
